.45-70 caliber Model 1888 Springfield Trapdoor with a 32-1/2” barrel. Walnut stock with sling swivels, Buffington rear sight with adjustments for wind and elevation. The rifle is stamped with “U.S. Model 1884” which was stamped on all of the model 1888’s breech blocks, despite actually being produced in 1888. This rifle has a sliding ramrod bayonet, corrugated trigger, and a compartment in the butt for tools. The gun is in good condition and has good rifling. The rifle has an inspector’s cartouche dated 1891. The rear stock is stamped “14D26.” All parts on this gun are original.
